the multi-disciplinary practice investigates identity as a tension between autonomy and alignment with community. This space is navigated through research observing and enquiring societal rhythms and their disruptions. Oftentimes purportedly mundane cycles are proposed extraordinary, suggesting mythologies in narratives of self-discovery. The artist seeks esoteric symbols in familiar aesthetics, ritualism in habitual behaviour, and overlooked binary social structures. Their practice is reliant on perspectives of being an insider, an outsider and an other, all at once. Rotations in nature are cross referenced with social science, proposing a legitimisation of human experience. Notions of monumentality are a recurrent theme, often proposed as portals of transportation and transformation, inverting hierarchal tropes. Significance is placed upon this notion of transience, aligning with exploration and experimentation on an open plain, pulling a metaphorical middle distance into sharper focus.
